  • Head-On Crash In Willits Injures One
    A head-on collision late Sunday night in Willits injured one person and temporarily blocked a southbound lane on South Main Street. The crash near Mariposa Market and Alameda Avenue involved a Jeep and another vehicle. One person was transported to Howard Memorial Hospital; the extent of injuries is unknown.

  • Misdemeanor Charge Recommended for Publisher of MendoFever
    The Ukiah Police Department has recommended a misdemeanor charge of “annoying or molesting a minor” against Ukiah High School teacher Matthew P. LaFever, 37, for inappropriate online communication with a known 17-year-old. The case is now with Mendocino County District Attorney David Eyster.  UPD asks minors who had online contact with LaFever to contact them.

    Mendocino County’s latest point-in-time homelessness count, required by the department of  Housing and Urban Development for federal funding, showed a decrease in unsheltered individuals from 552 to 440.     A nationwide recall is underway for all ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula due to a multistate botulism outbreak linked to select lots. The outbreak has resulted in 15 suspected or confirmed cases across 12 states including California.  Lake County has reported no local cases and confirmed all affected products are off shelves
