  • Cold Case Solved, Fort Bragg Man Convicted of Kidnapping & Assault
    A Mendocino County jury convicted William Hill, 42, of Fort Bragg, of aggravated kidnapping and assault with intent to commit rape in a 2019 cold case. The case was solved by DNA evidence linked to Hill’s 2022 sex crime convictions. Sentencing is scheduled for March 20, where Hill faces life in state prison.

    Lake County Sheriff’s Office Correctional deputy Daniel Constancio Jr., 37, of Willits, has been arrested for sexually assaulting a female inmate in early 2024.     Kristina Rae Lambert, 36, and 15-year-old Victoria Rose Bradley, both of Clearlake, died Wednesday afternoon in a head-on crash on Highway 29 north of Hidden Valley Lake.   • Beach Hazards Statement In Effect For Coastal Mendocino County
    A beach hazards statement is in effect through Saturday afternoon for the Mendocino Coast. An increased threat of sneaker waves and high beach run-up is expected. Beach combing is not advised. Stay farther back from the water during this time.
  • Mendocino County To Receive Funding From Senate Bill 1 For Road Work
    Caltrans has announced a $2.4 million investment in Mendocino County highways, funded by Senate Bill 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act. Approximately $1.3 million will go to road and guardrail upgrades on Highway 1 from Rockport to DeHaven, and $1.1 million for road and drainage improvements on Highway 271 near Leggett.

    The SBA is offering low-interest disaster loans to residents and businesses in Mendocino, Del Norte, Humboldt, Siskiyou, and Trinity counties affected by early January storms and the King tides.
